We moved
to Amberley in June 2002 after living in the Lake District for five years
where we ran a small guest house near Cockermouth.
We enjoy meeting people and have been overwhelmed at how nice our guests
have been. (Judging from comments in our visitors book, they quite like
us too!)
Stream Cottage is just a dream, awarded 4 red diamonds for quality from
the AA for 2004 and 2005, this award shows that Stream Cottage is within
the top 10% of establishments with 4 diamonds. We have also just been
voted as one of the top ten B & B's in the country by the Independent
newspaper! (Don't worry if you missed it - we've got it framed!). We didnt
think that we could possibly improve on Toddell Cottage in Cumbria but
we have! Reputedly built in 1587 in the reign of Elizabeth Ist, it has
a thatched roof and is widely regarded as being one of the prettiest cottages
in the village.
We pride ourselves on our hospitality and ability to make people feel
at home - the breakfast table overflows with different ideas and has been
nominated for an excellence award by the AA. (Janet was also short-listed
for 'Landlady of the Year 2003' but she didn't want me to mention that!)
There
are many good pubs and restaurants in the area or light evening snacks
are often available here at the cottage.
Janet is also a
qualified Aromatherapist/Reflexologist, so if any of the wonderful local walks
are just a bit too much, professional help is at hand!
